Paediatric Emergency Aid Course (half day course)

Information course aimed at parent/grandparents etc who seek first aid skills to help their family.The course is theory and practical based with plenty of opportunity to practice sequences without the worry of an assessment.Topics covered include assessment procedures, resuscitation (using adult, child and baby manikins), recovery position, choking, bleeding, burns and shock.Other subjects can be addressed during a question and answer session.The course is accompanied by a reference handout.


Appointed Persons First Aid (1 days) £65

This course covers the minimum requirements for first aid training as stipulated by the Health and Safety Executive and hence is recognised by them. This course aims to instruct participants to assess priorities of treatment, perform basic resuscitation procedures and action to be taken when dealing first aid in the workplace. Two extra modules can be aided to tailor the course to the groups requests. Assessment is continuous and a certificate is awarded. Course Participants receive a reference and student pack.


First Aid at Work (4 days) £210

This course is for First Aiders in the Workplace. A variety of different training aids are used including mannequins, first aid equipment, slides, presentation materials and handouts. At the end of the course independent assessors conduct the examination. Successful candidates receive a certificate valid for 3 years from the date of examination. This course is approved by the Health and Safety Executive and as such requires 4 weeks notice prior to the start of the course, please bear this in mind when booking. Course Participants receive a handbook and student pack.

First Aid at Work Refresher (2 days) £150

This course is provided for those with a valid first aid certificate who wish to renew them for a further 3 years. The course takes 12 hours including examination by independent assessors. This course is approved by the Health and Safety Executive and as such requires 4 weeks notice prior to the course, please bear this in mind when booking. Course Participants receive a handbook and student pack.

Community Based Emergency First Aid Courses (4 hours) £ on request

This course covers the minimum requirements for first aid training as stipulated by the Health and Safety Executive. This course includes Aims and Principles, Primary and Secondary Assessment, Basic Life Support. A variety of different training aids are used including mannequins, first aid equipment, slides, presentation materials and handouts. Course participants receive a prompt card and resuscitation face shield.

Expedition Care Program

These courses are aimed at those carrying out outdoor activities to gain practical knowledge of first aid in remote settings or difficult terrain (ie wild country/hillside/mountain/water activities). The Explorer Course forms the first day of the Exploration Course. Both courses require participants to be competent in the following:

  • Aims/Principles of expedition medicine


  • Responsibilities of the Expedition First Responder


  • Primary & Secondary Assessment


  • Basic Life Support


  • Airway Obstruction


  • Wounds & Bleeding


  • Musculoskeletal Injuries


  • Burns


Additional subjects may be added as required and time permitting. They could include Shock; Bites & Stings; Altitude Illness; Environmental Injuries; Expedition Hygiene; Casualty Evacuation; Drugs; Rabies; SARS; Fractures; Spinal Injuries; Common Disorders.



There is a heavy practical element to this course, some of which may be outside (venue dependent).



Explorer Medicine (1 day) £65.00

This course fulfils the basic requirements for the “Appointed Person” first aider Certificate valid for 3 years. Course participants receive a reference book and student pack.



Exploration Medicine (2 days) £110.00

This course is suitable for most National Governing Bodies as an outdoor First Aid Qualification (BMC, RYA, BCU, BELA etc). Successful participants receive a certificate of completion of course training and competence in wilderness first aid which includes exceeding the recommendations for “Appointed Person” first aider in the work place as laid down by the Health and Safety Executive. The certificate is valid for 3 years. Course participants receive a reference book and student pack. For UK based expeditions an example of course content could be:

  • Core Content (listed above);



  • Effects of Heat and Cold (ie hypothermia, heat stroke);


  • Illnesses (ie chest pain, asthma, epilepsy; diabetes);


  • Injuries (ie soft tissue, bones, head, spine, abdomen);


  • Rescues & Further Medical Help.



All courses have a minimum and maximum number of participants subject to venue.

Discounted course rates for groups may apply.

Courses can be offered as consecutive days, non-consecutive days or in half day increments. Please enquire for further details.
